In February, 2018, Steingraeber & Söhne published a new double CD: a live recording of “Canto Ostinato”.
In his famous piece “Canto Ostinato” (1976 / 1979) the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt is offering a great deal of freedom to each of the four interpreters. The duration of the work is indefinite, but precisely defined by 106 ‘sections’ and notated ‘bridges’. Four Russian pianists, led by their doyen Alexei Lubimov, interpret this masterpiece over almost two hours at four identical Steingraeber & Söhne semi-concert grands D-232. Live recording from the Chamber Music Hall in the Steingraeber Haus Bayreuth on March 15, 2017, for the 30th anniversary of the festival “Zeit für Neue Musik” in Bayreuth; Double CD.
