Bayreuth City Church – Haus Wahnfried – Anthroposophical Society – Art Museum and Steingraeber Chamber Music Hall: the 33rd festival “Time for New Music in Bayreuth” is performed in Bayreuth!
The festival wanders through the city to which it is dedicated … and dedicates itself to the memory of its founder, Professor Helmut Bieler, who died in 2019. This is how the vernissage begins on Saturday, March 14: Helmut Bieler “A life for music”. This exhibition is designed by two of his children, the music dramaturge Susanne Bieler and the director Achim Bieler, and runs until April 30, 2020 – admission is free. At the vernissage, in addition to the two curators, people from Helmut Bieler’s circle of friends will also honor him with entertaining speeches. Soprano Rebecca Broberg, flautist Martin Seel and pianist and composer Wolfram Graf, who organized the “Zeit für Neue Musik” with Helmut Bieler for many years, provide the musical accompaniment.
This year there will be a total of 7 concerts in 4 different locations; The Anthroposophical Society (Zeppelinstr. 8, Bayreuth) was added as an event location this year. The piano night in the Steingraeber Haus will be back on Saturday, March 21st, 2020, from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Another new feature is the cinema screening at Haus Wahnfried – on the one hand the short film “Glas” by Achim Bieler and on the other hand “Die Nibelungen” by Friedrich Murnau with film music by Helmut Bieler.
